I am a lot of things. My degree is in writing and communications. I didn’t enjoy copywriting then, so I opened Lemonjello’s Coffee in Holland, MI in 2003.

I have been in barista competitions since 2012. My best year I placed second in the 2015 North Central event and 15th in the US. I am an SCA certified AST and previously taught the SCAA heritage barista courses for years. I serve on the Barista Guild’s Executive Council & am chair of their Outreach Committee. I’ve also served various roles for the Events Committee for the past 5 years. All of this fits together to allow me to go in the direction of my 2 goals: Give baristas and coffee shop owners incredible learning and networking opportunities that I didn’t have & to help all of us understand how to make “the café” better.

That’s what this blog is. It’s my exploration into what it would look like to have a café that combines a Perfect Space with Perfect Service and a Perfect Zero Waste system… all in a way that generates a real income.

What I love most about my life is that I’m always learning. This blog is a way to document that.
